MISSION STATEMENT

To develop a framework for the federal regulation of cannabis and cannabis-derived products that a) protects public health and safety, b) promotes a level playing field for businesses, and c) improves clarity for regulators who today are tasked with regulating amidst a patchwork of conflicting state and federal regulations.

PROPOSED FRAMEWORK BY OUTPUT PRODUCT TYPE

Neither the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) or the Foundation of Cannabis Unified Standards (FOCUS) take any position on cannabis legalization. These efforts are not intended to push or advocate for cannabis legalization in any manner. As 501 c3 non-profit organizations, the goals of AFDO and FOCUS remain strictly around protecting public health and safety. The two organizations have come together to partner in this endeavor to assist US federal policy makers in providing adequate health and safety protections should legalization be pursued and position the US for participation in the ever-growing global cannabis industry.
